Among New Zealand artists Rachel is worth watching. Her coastal landscapes capture the light and form in a style all of her own. For most of her adult life she has lived out at Whangarei Heads and has absorbed the spectacular coastal landscapes of that region.
From her childhood she has evinced a natural talent and interest in visual art and for years has been quietly developing her skills and selling her work, not only in watercolour but in dry pastel.
In watercolour she seems to have mastered and used the accidental effects of that medium. In dry pastel she has a remarkable command of the medium to produce a meticulous representation of her subject.
